Based in the west of the Netherlands this privately-held company who wishes to remain so, is involved in several niche markets distributing goods and services worldwide. It is a leading multi-national with more than 45.000 employees and a turnover over of more than 11 bio Euro. Based on the key values of loyalty d integrity and trust there are seven business units who operate in a very decentralized way. In the relative young business unit of renewable energy (biomass), that is already active in the trading, production, distribution and contracting of heat through their newly acquired subsidiaries in the UK, NL and DACH countries there is a vacancy of Chief Operating Officer.
 
Job Description

The COO will take responsibility with the local management of the existing and the to be acquired subsidiaries in identifying, planning and implementing improvement initiatives in the relevant business areas, with a focus onthe sales and marketing activities in these subsidiaries. Over the next years the Business Unit needs to develop an international leading position in selected biomass downstream markets.  Representation on the different Boards of the subsidiaries is a possibility. Furthermore he/she will work closely with the CEO and CFO in assessing investment opportunities and play a leading role in the operational due diligences and implementing post-acquisition action plans. It is essential for the incumbent to develop excellent relations with the board members and management in the different subsidiaries in which the company holds a majority share, based on personality and proven expertise. This senior position is a great opportunity for someone who aspires an international career in an entrepreneurial environment.
 
Requirement 

• A relevant University background, preferably with MBA
• Minimum 10 years experience in operational and international commercial roles (B2C, franchise)
• Proven management and leadership qualities
• Experience in business process improvement ( LEAN, six sigma etc)
• Good command of Dutch, English and German; French is a pre
