We are looking for a General Manager to lead the Hamburg entity. Our client is a global distributor of chemicals, metals and other materials.

Position

Provide the required leadership to the management team to ensure consistent execution of all objectives. Complete responsibility and accountability for Germany distribution business: Profit and Loss, Customer Service and Retention, Cost Control, Cash Flow, Inventory Management, and Warehouse Operations. Accountability for key operational and sales business metrics. Drive customer satisfaction, retention, and profitable revenue growth. This role is a vital member of the EMEA leadership team

Individual responsibilties:

• Provide effective leadership.
• Growth and profit target attainment.
• Strategy development and execution (Operations, Sales, and Marketing).
• Sales quota attainment.
• Expand the distribution sales force.
• Assist in marketing plan development and execution.
• Manage cash flow of business.
• Development and implement improvement plans for German business.
• Margin Management.
• Customer Segmentation.
• Interact with International Leadership Team.
• Monitor and Manage KPI's to drive improvement.
• Establish and maintain ongoing customer relationships.
• Ensure the resolution of customer issues and conflict through proactive intervention and management.
• Consistent delivery of quality service to the customer.
• Execution of effective process controls and compliance with all established Company procedures.
• Providing a safe, environmentally compliant, work environment for our employees.
• Communicate and demonstrate support of corporate initiatives.
• Execute performance management and develop and manage direct reports.
• Develop, manage and grow supplier relationships and product line breadth. 
• Assist in driving growth through strategic acquisition selection evaluation and integration.

Profil

• At least eight years of overall experience involving custom job shop manufacturing, ideally from a similar manufacturer or distributor like chemical distributor, custom engineering, coating or similar
• 3 or more years in a senior management (operations, plant, general, business) capacity. Preference is for a manager who has had to wear multiple hats within a small manufacturing operation with both general operations and business development responsibilities. 
• Must have strong P&L experience including a fundamental understanding of balance sheets and general ledger. Does not have to be or have been an accountant, but must have had experience working with them in running a business. 
• Must have experience managing an organization with at least 20 to 50 separate individuals within a variety of departments. Ideal background would include managing a manufacturing operation within a multi-plant corporation. 
• Strong preference for experience working for an International parent company, not required. 
• Some experience managing the growth of a business is strongly preferred. 
• Fluent to native English required.
• Possibility for young professionals to get the career step to general management.
