Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing national provider of media- and communicationservices.

The position

The new Operational Excellence Director will bring together two companies through an efficiency and productivity program. He/She will be responsible for initiating, implementing, driving and monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of Go-to-Market (GTM) operations and the Way of Work in line with the strategy in order to reach an optimum balance between customer satisfaction and cost effectiveness. His role is to create an operational excellence blue print that will be implemented within GTM and later within the entire organization. The Director Operational will fully align and integrate systems, processes and people of the two companies in such a way that Merger Value Creation is realized. In this position the Director Operational Excellence manages an expertise team of approximately 20 professionals. He reports directly to the Vice President Go-To-Market (GTM). The Director Operational Excellence is a role model of change and ensures commitment to the business.

Tasks & responsibilities

The Director Operational Excellence will:

  • Contribute to the development of the GTM strategy by developing and implementing a sustainable strategy for Operational Excellence
  • Develop and establish the blueprint for the new Way of Work for GTM which can be implemented in a later stage as the blueprint for the new Way of Work for the entire organization and accordingly ensure the fulfillment of the organization wide Way of Work 
  • Manage the change agenda of GTM: you will identify improvement opportunities within the Go-To-Market field continuously, ensure the implementation, measure results and benchmark the results of the implemented projects
  • Propose Operational Excellence department budget and manage the realization
  • Build, lead and develop the Operational Excellence team and stimulate talent (management)

Candidate profile

The Director Operational Excellence is able to take the performance of the organization to new heights by creating the new operational excellence blueprint. He must have excellent planning and program management skills and is a conceptual thinker with a helicopter view. He has a proven track record in operational excellence and leadership, his ability to drive a smooth integration and his strong customer focus make him the perfect leader of change.

Furthermore, the Director Operational Excellence

  • Has an academic level of thinking: At least a relevant master’s degree in business management, operations research, an MBA or other relevant masters degrees;
  • Is experienced in managing operational excellence: he has a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role in operational excellence and in a senior management position;
  • Is a certified Lean 6-Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt;
  • Is used to interact at management and board level and has demonstrated management responsibility and success.
  • Is able to design and steer complex cross-functional improvement programs and know how to work with cross-functional teams
  • Masters the essence of operational excellence: creating a standard and best way of working throughout the organization by means of standardization, efficiency and continuous improvement
  • Has a proven track record of leadership in operational excellence and effective management
  • Has demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills aimed at influencing, developing and motivating teams and creating commitment
  • Is a demonstrated self-starter, hands-on, functioning most effectively in fast-paced, multi-task driven environments
  • Must be fluent in English both verbally and in writing
