Storage Architect / Evangelist

The position

For one of our international clients delivering her solutions to a large number of Dutch clients we are looking for an experienced Storage Consultant/Evangelist with good presentation skills.

A successful candidate will have significant experience of working in an IT consultancy environment and be expected to architect and deliver complex enterprise storage solutions clients. Your responsibilities will include:

• Tailoring and architecting complex large-scale storage (Consolidation & Virtualisation, Data Migration and Data Protection) solutions to meet the needs of the client
• Effectively applying technical knowledge to pre-sales situations and crafting solutions for clients whilst assessing their storage needs in relation to strategy and solution.
• Establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship at multiple levels both internally and with the client
• Providing technical consulting expertise and leadership to internal project teams and clients
• Providing coaching, guidance and leadership to colleagues
• Sharing knowledge and experience through formal and informal knowledge management initiatives

Day-to-day duties will range from missionary salesmanship providing significant input to commercial and technical pre-sales activities, responding to RFPs, through to high-level and detailed design phases to leading actual implementation on large projects. Being able to present solutions and vision to clients both internally and externally. A successful candidate will be expected to have a practical working knowledge of different storage technologies and their application to real-world business problems in large-scale customer environments.

The candidate should have a depth of specialisation in relevant technologies such as HP StorageWorks Disk Arrays (XP24000 and EVA Family), EMC Disk Arrays (Symmetrix and Clarion), Hitachi Disk Arrays (USP and AMS) 3Par Disk arrays and IBM Disk Arrays (DS series). This must be complemented with solid understanding of storage networking products by Brocade and Cisco, and of Backup/Recovery solutions from a range of vendors including Symantec, EMC and CommVault. A wide appreciation of trends and emerging technologies in the storage arena is also expected.

Skills and Experience

Candidates should have broad and deep experience-based knowledge of storage technologies and architectures (ideally multi-vendor), gained through genuine involvement in the scoping, design and implementation of multiple storage solutions on large scale, complex, multi-technology projects for enterprise customers. You should be able to explain the complexities and implications of Storage Solutions including Consolidation & Virtualisation, Data Migration and Data Protection and Data Management. Candidates should have experience and hold relevant certifications for products such as HP StorageWorks Disk Arrays (XP24000, EVA, 3Par) and have a solid understanding of storage networking products by Brocade and Cisco, and Backup Archive and Recovery solutions. These may be from a range of vendors including Symantec, EMC and CommVault.

As well as understanding storage technologies through genuine project experience, candidates should be able to articulate the business benefits to the customer and be able to prioritise these benefits amidst other decisions and options facing clients – i.e. a business-aware evangelist who also knows and is ready to admit when a particular storage technology is not the right answer.

The successful candidates will be able to express themselves well in writing, as well as demonstrating proficiency in both formal and informal presentations along with excellent consultative, workshop and facilitation skills. They will be able to engage effectively with a wide variety of individuals, both within a project team, and especially with the client at all levels of seniority. In customer delivery, they may be expected to engage with senior management in a business-context as well as interacting with – and often leading – a team of technical staff and sub-contractors. Candidates should demonstrate a proven willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues. Experience of project management tools and methodologies is desirable and candidates should demonstrate an ability to be self-driven and organised.

Salary indication

The salary indication for this position is € 100K-140K
