Rocket Internet, the world''s largest internet platform outside China and the United States, is looking to expand its business in the emerging African market. For their biggest eCommerce company in Africa with more than 1.500 employees in 12 countries, they are looking for an experienced Chief Technology Officer (m/f) based in Porto and/or Paris/Berlin.

Position

• We are seeking a passionate CTO (m/f), who will be responsible for managing the IT department with currently 50 employees and ensuring a further growth in headcount
• You will be responsible for tech strategy, setting priorities, managing resources and assuring on-time delivery
• You provide the teams with direction and vision. Further, you motivate your team members to perform, provide them with feedback and coaching, recognize and develop their strengths
• You and your team are in charge of the daily operations and development of the B2C platform. Therefore, you ensure a flawless 24/7 availability of the systems, investigate incidents, solve problems and oversee several projects, timelines and releases
• In difficult or urgent situations you support your team hands on by providing guidance, knowledge and support
• You will enjoy high visibility in this role, as you will be significantly responsible for the company's success, act as a sparring partner to the global general management and interact with different stakeholders within the company

Profil

• Excellent university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related engineering fields
• Several years of experience in leading complex international eCommerce projects and teams using agile methodologies
• Experience with large scale online business
• Strong technical background within various fields of Information Technology, ideally in web development using PHP
• Passion for creating lean, target oriented IT systems. Very good problem solving skills and a ''can do'' attitude. Enthusiasm and ability to mentor less experienced team members. Exceptional interpersonal skills and entrepreneurial personality
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Full Proficiency of the English Language
