The organisation

Dechra Veterinary Products is specialized in the sales, marketing and technical support of Dechra's branded veterinary pharmaceutical and related products to the veterinary profession in Europe. They operate in thirteen European countries with more than 400 people in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the UK and recently Italy. The European business is located in Den Bosch , Netherlands.

The product range is made up of products for companion animals with key areas of expertise spanning endocrinology, dermatology, cardiology,anaesthesiology/pain management, ophthalmology and nutrition. In addition a complete range of water soluble powders and injectable antibiotics are marketed for food producing animals. The range is completed by an extension portfolio of pain and mobility pharmaceuticals for use in the equine sector.

Dechra Veterinary Products (DVP) Europe is a business unit of Dechra Pharmaceuticals PLC. 

The position

In the function of HR Director DVP Europe, you are responsible for HR in thirteen European countries. You will work intensively together with the senior management team of Dechra Veterinary Products Europe and report to the Managing Director Europe with a functional line to the Group HR Director based in the UK. You will form part of the global HR team. 

The HR Director Europe develops and implements HR instruments, which are going to be integrated in the international organization. 

The HR Director Europe gives direction to the HR Managers/ HR Officers based across various locations in mainland Europe and you will provide support to the client groups in Europe where there is no local HR team. 

In this general HR function with a great international scope, you will work on the further positioning and professionalization of HR within the European organisation.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • You will make a significant contribution to the HR function and the company in general and must be willing to take ownership of assigned projects with regional European responsibilities. This role is responsible for working closely with the Dechra Group HR team in various capacities and projects as needed.
  • Comprehensive HR Management skills while clearly demonstrating the ability to operate within a diverse employee population in terms of diversity of international cultures and functional and operational areas. Working closely with Group HR Director helping to establish the annual Divisional HR and local HR agenda and road map.
  • Lead a team of four direct HR team members plus work closely with other HR team members on an indirect basis within the locations driving the Lifestyle HR and business agenda forward.
  • Responsible for being the key HR business partner in Europe ensuring that the people & HR strategy is aligned to the overall business strategy. This position is also a ke team member on the Europe Senior Management team contributing to the creation and management of the overall business strategy along with the other management team members.
  • Provide advice and direction to managers and employees within DVP EU relating to performance management, employee relations, recruitment, succession planning, compensation, compliance, and training & development.
  • Design and administer certain business HR policies and procedures that are required within the European region while ensuring that these are where appropriate aligned to all Corporate global HR policies.
  • Oversee various HR projects and programs as assigned.
  • Manage and oversee the European compensation function to include: coordination of the annual merit review process, target tracking and variable pay bonus calculation processes; Prepare proposals for required compensation levels and carry out remuneration benchmarking activities.
  • Accurately interpret, counsel, communicate, and educate managers and staff on compensation policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation of business HR activities.

Candidate profile

  • 10-15 years of relevant European regional and or Global HR business partner & generalist, talent management and compensation experience
  • Experience with compensation management programs, global grading, benchmarking and salary structure development
  • European HR experience required specifically focused in Germany, France, Netherlands
  • HR leadership experience in a similar result-oriented organization
  • A master’s degree
