Position

Reporting to the Commercial Pricing and Underwriting Leader, the Regional Pricing and Underwriting Lead will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Underwriting, Underwriting Risk Management and Pricing standards within the region and to support the Regional Commercial business in the delivery of the regional Operating Plan. More specifically, this role will be responsible for :

• Providing pricing, underwriting, technical and risk management leadership for the region
• Provide technical direction regarding pricing, profitability and risk management for new and in-force business in region and to act as the 'trusted adviser' for the commercial business
• Application and governance of overall pricing & underwriting standards
• Support commercial business in setting & executing business strategy (e.g pricing, marketing, targeting, sales)
• Coaching, advice & technical support for (a) business as usual; (b) product development and (c) client interaction
• Defend the long-term profitability of the business by implementing and managing the risk/pricing framework for new-business and through pro-active management of the in-force portfolio
• Work closely with clients and sales to structure deal terms and prioritise new business opportunities
• Provide challenge, direction and peer review of centrally produced quotes and in-force projections
• Liaise with Finance, FP&A, OPS and IT to ensure deal terms are structured appropriately
• Lead on key technical/actuarial and risk management projects with the regions
• Guide commercial on management of the in-force portfolio
• Be seen as the expert ("trusted adviser") on business and specifically local pricing and underwriting performance issues and guidance on remedial actions 
• Managing and leading regional risk/actuarial resource to deliver to agreed service standards
• Establishing risk appetite/product mix monitoring and remedial advice for regional management
• Communicating best assumptions for forecasting and pricing purposes 
• Providing a framework to contribute to the forecasting of regional underwriting performance
• Providing a framework to report on performance of portfolios and risk indicators to trigger repricing or other structural reviews
• Providing leadership and proactive advice to regional management for all pricing, underwriting and actuarial matters
• Contributing to the Regional SLT and reporting into the regional commercial lead on a dotted line basis 
• Support the region in the delivery of the Operating Pland and support for client visits/requests as required

Profil

Essential Qualifications:

• Qualified actuary or similar education profile with 8+ years post-qualification experience
• Knowledge of personal protection insurance
• Fluency in English and one other European language preferred (written and spoken)
• Experience of life and non life products
• Experience of valuation and financial reporting
• Excellent communication and presentation skills 
• Extensive underwriting risk management experience at a senior level
• Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail
