The position

As a Finance Director, you will be functionally responsible for all financial matters within Samskip Logistics. You will not only be an exceptional accountant, hands on with finances, but have excellent business acumen as well. Financial leadership and support not only include the typical budgeting, forecasting, and actuals analysis and reporting; it also includes value-added business and financial analytical support for key division initiatives. We are looking for a financial leader that enjoys being involved in transactional, tactical and strategic tasks.

You will directly supervise a small team in the Netherlands and be functionally responsible for our finance teams in Asia, South America, Australia, USA and Europe. You will report to the CEO of Samskip Logistics. Some specific examples of financial responsibilities for Samskip Logistics group include the following:

  • Advising and participating with the CEO on all financial matters including M&A.
  • Analysis of new business opportunities and assessing any associated risks.
  • Managing the budgeting process and external audits.
  • Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly forecast updates.
  • Presentation of annual accounts with recommendations.
  • Ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
  • Ensuring tight internal controls are in place and company policies are adhered to.
  • Ensure the production of accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Managing working capital and cash flow.

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum 10 years in the Finance field, with prior business controller experience preferred.
  • Experience in the Forwarding sector is an advantage although not a requirement.
  • Drive and determination, result-oriented hands on approach. Ability to work independently, with initiative, self-motivation and discipline. Ability to deal with complexity.
  • Ability to conclude and decide on a course of action timely and effectively.
  • Ability to persevere in face of odds and difficulties and creatively devise means to solve unforeseen problems.
  • Ability to collaborate with others across the organisation to achieve common goals of the company.
  • Ability to motivate people effectively to produce desire results.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organisation and in a cross cultural environment.
  • Excellent knowledge and fluency in Dutch and English, both verbal and written.
