To the soonest date we are looking for a European VAT Tax Manager (m/f).

Position

The VAT Manager will manage a wide range of VAT matters across Europe and will report to the International CFO. VAT aspects include but are not limited to identify VAT savings potential across Europe, ensure and implement VAT compliance and processes, VAT modelling for business deals, assistance in M&A projects. The candidate will coordinate with the appropriate persons (e.g., Controllers) in Europe, the tax team and advisors.

  • Subject matter expert in financial services VAT aspects as well as in VAT processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an intercultural environment
  • Strong communication and project management skills 
  • Practical understanding of the accounting process and environment
  • Resolve local VAT matters, working with external advisors, as necessary 
  • Identify VAT opportunities 
  • Ensure and implement VAT compliance and processes and mitigate VAT risks
  • Manage and/or coordinate Tax Audits re VAT
  • Provide VAT support on business initiatives and M&A transactions / VAT modeling for business deals
  • Improve consistency, timeliness and accuracy of the tax function

Profil

  • 6-10 years of VAT experience at a public Accounting firm, Tax Advisory or Law firm or sophisticated multinational corporation
  • Certified Tax counselor (Steuerberater) or similar qualification 
  • Banking/Financial Industry experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English writing and verbally as well as German
  • Proactive and motivated self-starter
  • Collaborates effectively and works well in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the impact of problems across the organization and facilitates a collaborative solution
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced, challenging international environment with multiple priorities 
  • Flexible
