The position

Be the driver of our main financial performance reporting processes and provide leadership and guidance on finance matters. Are you the senior finance director for the job? Challenge yourself internationally: be the brain, heart and soul of Finance.

Tasks & responsibilities

As the director of our Finance and Business Control activities, you will tackle challenges every step of the way. You will be our primary business partner for business leaders at the national and international level, while providing insightful financial advice, guidance and decision support. Your advice is based on in-depth knowledge and business insights, with a keen eye for future developments.

In this senior role you have major responsibilities, including directing and managing about 40 people reporting directly and indirectly to you inside and outside the Netherlands. You will report to our Group CFO.

Your mission is to support the operating companies within the Samskip group in strengthening business analysis and complex financial matters. As the head of our financial reporting and accounting processes, you ensure accurate and timely reporting and alignment with our overall central finance processes.

To strengthen our business, you:

  • review and monitor KPI performance based on your business knowledge;
  • manage ad-hoc analysis and financial projects, drive improvements in financial reporting and processes, and identify opportunities and gaps;
  • proactively manage forecasting, cash flow management, and the impact of a changed business environment on financial plans;
  • collaborate with Samskip’s business leaders to ensure that initiatives are implemented effectively;
  • facilitate knowledge sharing across operating companies, especially on financial matters.

Candidate profile

You like to challenge and support top management teams with diverse cultural and technical backgrounds, and your strong communication and persuasion skills enable you to express your ideas with ease and flair.Your eye for detail and drive for collaboration ensure an unbiased view of your business priorities.

You are strong enough to take the lead thanks to your:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or business economics, or accreditation as a Certified Public Accountant.
  • Extensive (10+ years) experience in an international mid-size company, preferably in Finance and Control.
  • Proven financial management experience in all areas of finance and accounting.
  • Knowledge of SAP FICO and advanced Excel skills that help you analyse large amounts of data and maintain complex financial models.
  • Ability to handle deadlines and schedules within a matrix reporting relationship.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch, both verbal and written.
